Irritable Bowel Syndrome Kits

IBS Hydrogen/Methane Breath Test Kits

Abbott's Gastrolab is Australia's largest provider of on-site and at-home hydrogen/methane breath tests. These tests diagnose malabsorption of fermentable carbohydrates (FODMAPs), such as fructose and lactose, and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. Both conditions are leading causes of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms.

IBS is the most commonly diagnosed gastrointestinal condition, affecting an estimated 1 in 5 Australians. The symptoms include abdominal pain, cramping or discomfort, bloating, diarrhoea and/or constipation, and excess flatus. Research has shown that intolerance to dietary triggers such as FODMAPs generates functional gut symptoms in the majority of IBS sufferers.

Hydrogen/methane breath tests are highly specific and sensitive diagnostic tools that enable you and your health practitioner to make informed decisions about management of IBS symptoms.

Abbott’s Gastrolab supplies a variety of breath test kits for adults and children. Our quality standards ensure all our testing products are reliable and validated against laboratory standards.
